Homemade Organic Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal {For Baby}

The best way to feed your newbie?  Organic.  In my mind this just means food grown with out using pesticides or hormones.  The FDA now has a requirement for something to be labeled organic and those are the top two items!

Most babies first food is Oatmeal or Rice.  I’ve heard that people are staying clear of rice because there is a possibility of dangerous chemicals being in rice because these chemicals are naturally occurring in the Earth (arsenic).  I’m not sure if that accurate, but to be safe, I made oatmeal 🙂

Here is how you do it:

{I made about 3-4 weeks worth}

  1. Buy Organic Quick Oats {Mine are from Sprouts}
  2. Add 5 cups of oats to a blender and blend for 3 minutes or until it is a powder
  3. Store in an airtight container {I use a glass Rubbermaid that has a airlock tab on the top}

Here is how you make it:

  1. When you want to make your little angel a cup of oatmeal bring some water to a boil {I know this is an extra step but it only takes a couple minutes}.
  2. Take 1/4 cup of water place it in a bowl.
  3. Add 1/8 cup organic powder oatmeal you’ve made
  4. Stir thoroughly
  5. Serve NOT hot 🙂 duh…

For taste I add 1 ice cube of frozen apple and a 1/2 tsp of cinnamon {to see how I make frozen apples that click here}.  This recipe is so good I eat it with my daughter.  Which in turn encourages her to eat it. What ever she see’s me eating she wants to eat!!!

So that’s how you make organic Apple Cinnamon Oatmeal for your growing baby! A great source of vitamins and iron!

Love,

J
